RESEARCH STAY

CIAC HOSTS RESEARCH STAY IN THE DIGITAL CULTURE AREA
Florence Dravet is a Professor of Communication courses at the Catholic University of Brasília, member of the permanent Faculty of the Graduate Program in Communication and the Graduate Program in Education at UCB. She holds a PhD in Didactology of Languages and Cultures, with a thesis in Intercultural Communication, at the University of Paris III – Sorbonne-Nouvelle (2002). Post-doctorate in Communication at the University of Brasília (2011). Between 2014 and 2020, she was Coordinator of the Professional Masters in Innovation in Communication and Creative Economy, at Universidade Católica de Brasília. Guides graduate, scientific initiation, master and doctoral’s research. Develops research and extension activities in Digital Communication focused on art, poetry and female entrepreneurial performance, with reflections on media images, narrative and imagery. Coordinates the research group “Travessia – Transdisciplinaridade e Creatividade” of the DGP/CNPq. She is the author of the books: “Critique of metaphorical reason – myth, magic and poetry in contemporary culture” (Brasília, Casa das Musas, 2014) and “Comunicação e Poesia” (Brasília, UnB, 2014), and organized the book with other authors “Transdisciplinarity and Education of the Future”, which proposes a poetic transdisciplinary thought.
From her stay in Portugal, she hopes to lay the foundations for a new research project entitled “The Forms of Myth in Digital Narratives: Technology, Imagination and Creativity”. Like all forms of culture, digital culture is crossed by myth, in its narrative productions, in its manifestations and organization in social networks, in fictional series and in various forms of art.
At first, Florence Dravet intends to investigate how myth (as thought, but also in its various mythologies) manifests itself in the digital environment and how it is apprehended by science. This stage will be accomplished through a systematic review of the multidisciplinary scientific literature of the last five years on the subject. In a second moment, the material obtained will be analyzed in order to identify how the myth, in its most diverse forms, is enhanced by the creative possibilities provided by the technological tools available in digital culture (streaming platforms, immersive technologies, multimedia and transmedia languages , complex structures, etc). At this stage, the theories of the imaginary proposed by Jung (2011), Durand (2002, 2004), Morin (2005, 2007 and 2014) and Maffesoli (2008) will support the critical reading, through which the potential of myth in the creative imagination and digital environment will be identified.
The expected results should point to new paths towards transdisciplinary digital literacy; paths capable of awakening critical and creative postures in new generations that are hyperconnected and immersed in the digital environment, especially regarding their narrative and creative skills. How does technological innovation dialogue with the mythical tradition? And in this context, what are the old and new knowledges necessary for a transdisciplinary digital literacy?
The research stay at CIAC will last until August 2021 and will allow the creation of a link between CIAC and the Research Group “Travessia – Transdiciplinaridade e Creatividade”, from the Catholic University of Brasília. In addition, it will open up spaces for dialogue for students and researchers from both institutions.
