VISUAL ARTS CYCLE
PEDRO CABRAL SANTO IS THE GUEST SPEAKER OF THE NEXT VISUAL ARTS CYCLE
On 29 March 2023, at 16h00, CIAC and the University of Algarve promote a lecture with the artist and CIAC researcher Pedro Cabral Santo. The session is part of the Visual Arts Cycle and takes place at Amphitheater 0.3 of the Pedagogical Complex, Campus Penha. Admission is free of charge.
Pedro Cabral Santo studied Painting and Sculpture at the Faculties of Fine Arts of Lisbon and Porto, specializing in the expressive areas of installation and video installation. In the last 20 years, he has been developing activities as a plastic artist and exhibition commissioner, of which can be highlighted Tilt (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon), O Pedro e o Lobo (Museum of Neo-realism, Vila Franca de Xira), Il Communication (with Carlos Roque, Sala do Veado, Lisbon), X-Rated/Autores em Movimento(ZDB gallery, Lisbon), The Empire Strikes Back (co-curator, Galeria ZDB/Institulo La Capella (MACBA), Lisbon and Barcelona), Espaço 1999 (co-organizer, Natural History Museum, Lisbon), Fernando Brito 1983-2010 (Cultural Center Vila Flor, Guimarães) and Manuel Vieira – CASA (Cordoaria Nacional, Lisbon). He has exhibited, at the Museu do Chiado (2011), the work Sem Dó, com Ré tribute to Sá de Miranda), which was included in the commemorations of the panels of São Vicente by Nuno Gonçalves, carried out in partnership with the artist Lula Pena; and the project (tríptico) Unconditionally (School of Arts, Coimbra), Absolutely (VPF gallery, Lisbon) and Unforeseeable (Ruins of Milréu, Estói, Faro).
In 2018, he held an anthological exhibition on 30 years of work titled Endless, at the Vila Flôr Cultural Center (Guimarães) and launched the books SoundClimax (Slolen Books, 2020) and the Power of Love (Slolen Books, 2021).
Promoted by CIAC and FCT, the Cycle of Visual Arts is organized by the Visual Arts degree of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Algarve.
