MIRIAN TAVARES RECEIVES UNANIMOUS APPROVAL FOR HER AGGREGATION EXAMS

CIAC coordinator Mirian Tavares presented, on 13 and 14 February 2023, her public exams for the title of Agrégé in Digital Media Art and received unanimous approval from the jury.

The exams, which took place at the University of Algarve (Campus Gambelas), included the analysis, appreciation, and discussion of Tavares’ CV; A discussion of the Report for the Discipline “Art, Communication and Contemporaneity;” and the discussion of the lesson “Recovering the senses – the role of aesthetics in the Digital World.”

The jury was presided by Doctor Nuno Gonçalo Viana Pereira Ferreira Bicho (Tenured Professor, Vice-Rector for Research and Culture, University of Algarve) and composed of Doctor Fernando Amílcar Bandeira Cardoso (Tenured Professor, University of Coimbra); Doctor João Mário Lourenço Bagão Grilo (Tenured Professor, University NOVA of Lisbon); Doctor Nuno Manuel Robalo Correia (Tenured Professor, University NOVA of Lisbon); Doctor Moisés Adão de Lemos Martins (Tenured Professor, University of Minho); Doctor Gustavo Cardoso (Tenured Professor, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa); and Doctor José Augusto Nunes Bragança de Miranda (Tenured Professor, Lusophone University).

During her presentations, Mirian Tavares poetically summarized her multifaceted academic and life path with a quote from the Opera Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo, by Antonio Caldara: “In un bivio è il mio volere/di seguir il mondo o il cielo” [At the crossroads stands my mind / to choose the world’s way or heaven’s].
