CIAC RESEARCHERS PARTICIPATE IN CONFERENCE OF THE BRAZILIAN SOCIETY OF CINEMA AND AUDIOVISUAL STUDIES
On 8 November 2023, CIAC coordinator Mirian Tavares (UAlg), and researchers Rita Cassitas (CIAC/UTP) and Denize Correa Araujo (CIAC/UTP) participate in the XXVI Encontro SOCINE – Volverse Otras: políticas, imagens, sons e fronteiras, [Becoming Others: politics, images, sounds and borders] where they are part of the round table “Creation, Production and Spectatoriality with New Technologies”. The event will take place at the Federal University of Latin American Integration (UNILA), based in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil), between November 7 and 10.
Mirian Tavares presents “Recovering the Senses – Aesthetics and Images in Contemporaneity” where she reflects on how we associate with images, being immersed in a digital universe with so many theories and technological innovations.
Rita Cassitas, in her Communication “Technology and Art: Traveling Without Leaving the Studio”, presents the script – under production – “Do Not Drink if You Want to Leave”, where she intends to demonstrate the concepts of film literacy and “Repertorial Spectator”.
“The Repertorial Spectator and their intertextual/technological dialogues”, presented by Denize Correa Araujo, reflects on how the film” Jogador Número 1 “(Ready Player One, Spielberg, 2017) demands a spectator out of the ordinary, what she calls”Repertorial Spectator”, which is capable of dialoguing with intertexts that are a fundamental part of understanding the created context.
CIAC collaborator Jusciele Oliveira (UAlg) attends the event as part of the thematic session “Black Cinemas: Aesthetics, Narratives and Audiovisual Policies in Africa and Afro-Diasporas” . With the communication “Creolization of Portuguese Language in Contemporary Films of PALOPs” the researcher proposes a debate on the issue of language in cinema and the Creolization of Portuguese Language in Films from African Countries that have Portuguese as an Official Language (PALOPs).
SOCINE – Brazilian Society of Cinema and Audiovisual Studies aims to promote the realization and discussion of research and studies of cinema in its most different manifestations, thus encouraging reflection and the sharing of ideas about cinema and audiovisual in Brazil.
Among other research activities, SOCINE organizes an annual meeting in order to provide opportunities for interaction between professionals, producers, critics, researchers, teachers, and students in the field of audiovisual from different regions of the country. This year, the meeting intends to place the debate about the images of the people originated by cinema at the center of the discussions on cinema and audiovisual.
