INVITRO PROGRAM PROMOTES CYCLE OF SEMINARS DEDICATED TO RESEARCH IN DESIGN AND DIGITAL MEDIA

On 30th June, at 5:30 pm, the INVITRO curatorial program will promote online the second cycle of seminars entitled “Research in Design and Digital Media-Art: between the (functional) artefact and the aesthetic discourse”. Curated by Selma Pereira (Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco) and moderated by Adérito Fernandes-Marcos, member of the Executive Board of CIAC, the cycle will feature interventions by Carlos Duarte (IADE – European University), Heitor Alvelos (FBA-University of Porto) and Teresa Barradas (Polytechnic Institute of Beja).

The objective is to challenge teachers, researchers and creators at the intersection of Design and Digital Media Art to share their own research approaches, processes or cycles of creation and reflection, aiming the dialogue and the establishment of common bases of thought, practice and understanding.

“Design as added value: Project method in Design versus Scientific research method” (Carlos Duarte), “Knowledge, Development and Uncertainty: vocations of Design Research” (Heitor Alvelos) and “Exploring e-materials in the construction of a new fashion design” (Teresa Barradas) are the motto for the debate.

The research in the field of Design and Digital Media Art implies the adoption of a methodology and strategies based on artistic practice and/or design project, as an action of conception and implementation of artefacts, aesthetic lines or artistic or design installations. This is the procedural moment to glimpse ways of convergence of the two lines of investigation: Design and Digital Media-Art.

The INVITRO curatorial program is developed within the framework of the Center for Research, Development and Transdisciplinary Experimentation of Technological Artifacts of the Universidade Aberta/Artech-International/CIAC. Its mission is related to the development and encouragement of technological artefacts based on the inter-multi and transdisciplinary intersection, on collaboration between sectors, on innovation and on creative thinking.

The cycle of seminars is free, with a participation certificate. Places are limited and registration is mandatory.
