DMAD REUNION 2023-10 JULY

10th DMAD REUNION BEGINS ON 10 JULY AT CONVENTO ESPÍRITO SANTO, IN LOULÉ
The 2023 edition of the Doctoral Reunion in Digital Media-Art takes place from July 10 to 14. The event starts with the inauguration of the 10th DMAD reunion, at the Convent Espírito Santo, in Loule, at 10h00.
The inauguration be held by representatives from the University of Algarve, The Open University, the Director of the Doctorate program in Digital Media-Art, Doctor Mirian Tavares, a representative from the Municipality of Loulé, and the coordinator of the event, Doctor António Costa Valente.
10h30 – Opening conference
Pedro Cabral Santo, Professor in the Visual Arts course at the University of Algarve and in the PhD in Digital Media-Art, presents the conference “Motion in Motion – processes of creation in moving image”.
11h30 – Visit the exhibition by Visual Arts students
“ODE to everything and nothing” presents a selection of works, related to the artistic investigations carried out by students of the Degree in Visual Arts of FCHS-UAlg, in the fields of drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, engraving, video art, and digital/multimedia media.
14h00 – Media and Digital Art-FAACD
Debate on the theoretical reflections related to the aesthetic experience from the presentation and debate on the work done by the students, with Professor Gabriela Borges.
15h30 – Media and Digital Art-FATAC
Presentation, visualization, and analysis of the final practical works developed in the module of media and Digital art, with Professor Bruno Mendes da Silva.
About DMAD – PhD in Digital Media-Art
The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (FCHS) of the University of Algarve and the Department of Science and Technology (DCeT) of the Open University, created the doctoral program in Digital Media-Art (DMAD) to work at the University of Algarve, in a hybrid program, with a face-to-face meeting, for one week, during the month of July, in Portugal. This is a pioneering program in Portugal in the growing inter-multi – and transdisciplinary field ea of digital media art. Internationally, this is the first doctoral-level program to work with a hybrid program.
Objectives
The course aims to train digital media-art professionals for the most diverse fields of intervention, whether in research, education, artistic, technological, and communications development, with solid skills in experimentation with and exploitation of computer technologies for creation, communication sciences, and artistic and intercultural intervention; capable of taking the lead of experimentation/ research-action projects of artistic and intercultural intervention, individual and collective, covering the development of new digital computer applications, products, and aesthetic narratives.
Applications for the 3rd phase are open until 10/07/2023, and you can still compete for the 4th phase, from 07/08/2023 to 28/08/2023.
