CIAC PARTNER IN THE IV CONFERENCE “HISPANIC WORLD AND PORTUGAL”
On 8th June 2021, between 11:00am and 12:30am, Wellington Lima Amorim (CIAC Partner) will be part of the panel of speakers at the IV Conference “Hispanic World and Portugal”. Together with José Eliézer Mikosz, he will present by videoconference “The face of the feminine in the medieval heritage between Brazil and Portugal”.
This research intends to present the luso-brazilian utopia, from the political-religious imaginary that can be understood through the millenarian thought of Joaquim de Flora. For the franciscan thinker, History has a positivity that will inevitably lead us to a third age, to a final synthesis. The Spirit will overcome and keep the carnal, expression of the feminine, in a higher stage which, according to Natalia Correia, consists in the kingdom of the Holy Spirit, where all the gods would be accepted: the return of polytheism. The gods would return after their long exile, eliminating dichotomies, reaching the oneness and presenteeism of the Spirit.
The joachimite doctrine historically influenced, in a distorted way, the Protestant Reformation, German Romanticism, or even Hegel and Marx. These would be in a position contrary to Natália Correia, who defends the thesis that the deconstruction of a sad and crucified religion would only be possible with a decrucifixion in the name of joy and lucidity and the recovery of the image of lovers who recognize themselves in the body of the other, described in Salomão’s book Cântico dos Cânticos [Song of Songs] and in the feminine interpretation of Bernardo de Claraval.
The study journeys “Hispanic World and Portugal” intend to reflect the work developed by the researchers of the Group “Iberian and Ibero-American Culture, History and Thought” of CHAM – Humanities Center, promoting the exchange of knowledge and providing a transdisciplinary environment between members of the group and all academics interested in studying these universes.
The Research Group “Iberian and Ibero-American Culture, History and Thought” of CHAM – Humanities Center aims to study the Iberian and Ibero-American world, both in a historical perspective and in the present.
