CIAC IS ONCE AGAIN PRESENT AT THE AVANCA FILM FESTIVAL

The 14th AVANCA / CINEMA 2023 – International Conference on Cinema – Art, Technology, Communication takes place between 26 and 30 July 2023 in Avanca and CIAC is the reference Research Center, as usual.

The conference takes place in parallel with the 27th AVANCA – International Film, Television, Video, and Multimedia meetings 2023. This year, the rector of the University of Algarve is part of the Honor Commission and UAlg has become associated with the events.

Several researchers go to this parish in the municipality of Estarreja to present and share the results of the research they have been carrying out in the field of cinema.

Rosimária Sapucaia and Mirian Tavares present “Live cinema and its potential as a resource for online classes”, an article that aims to explore live cinema, as an online performance, as a didactic resource, derived from the pedagogical model developed for the teaching of cyberperformance in higher education, within the scope of the CyPeT project.

Ana Isabel Soares will present “Hymn of filial love, mirror of a woman” and Hugo Paquete also attends the event with OOO: Sound Art and Technology as Speculative Realism, the researcher has been exploring intersections between sound studies, digital art, digital aesthetics, technology, music, and their meanings in the contemporary megapolitical context.

Lardyanne Pimentel and António Costa Valente present “Interactive narratives: Webdocumentary an audiovisual genre”.

The festival will premier the film “MetaAnémic Cinéma” by DMAD PhD student Alexandre Martins.

Produced by Professor António Costa Valente, in collaboration with CIAC, the following films will be exhibited:

“Capa de Honras, o conto do rapazinho e do velho” (Cover of honors La Cuonta de l Garotico I L Bielh) by Rui Falcão, a fiction short film spoken in mirandese, which will be premiered in AVANCA;

“Já Nada Sei”by Luís Diogo, a fiction feature film that has been highly awarded, especially at North American festivals;

“Horário em Branco” by Bernardo Cabral, a short fiction film filmed in the Azores and which premiered this year at Fantasporto (Porto) and which will have its second screening at AVANCA and the first with the definitive version of the film.

Artificial Intelligence will be debated at the festival, with workshops, debates, and films.
