EXPERIMENTAL SHORT FILMS

CIAC SUPPORTS THE “C/IT/AGAIN” EXHIBITION
The first edition of “C/It/Again”, an exhibition of experimental short films, will be curated and presented by the researcher Denize Araujo, in a collaboration between CIC, CIAC, and VIC.
This exhibition will present two works. CIAC researcher Alexandre Martins was invited to present his project “Right to Copy” – a video collection consisting of six animated slides using PowerPoint. This series explores the intrusion and overlap of text in the image, specifically the names of image banks that accumulate and block millions of figures through paywalls. “Right to Copy” encourages the appropriation and merging of exclusive but also public domain images in an attempt to achieve new modes of imagetic, kinetic, and textual expression.
VIC’s Vuk Cosic presents “Intertextual Greens” — an intertextual work of net.art created only with images and without sound and narrative, which revisits images of several iconic scenes from films, such as “Singin’ in the Rain” and Star Trek. The clips are ordered in order to create different paradoxes and meanings.
The session takes place via Zoom, on 5 July 2023, at 10h00 (BR), 14h00 (PT).
