ANTÓNIO COSTA VALENTE WINS AWARDS IN FILM FESTIVALS IN INDIA
Prétu Funguli and O Antiquário, two movies produced by CIAC researcher António Costa Valente, have recently won awards in two film festivals in India.
The documentary Prétu Funguli, produced in collaboration with Monica Musoni, was awarded at the Golden Lion International Film Festival in Kolkata (India). “Pretu Funguli,” besides being the title of the film, is a Creole expression used with a discriminating meaning. The expression was recovered by Guinean artist Nú Barreto who has a vast production and international presence and transformed the expression in an artwork.
The animation O Antiquário, produced by Manuel Matos Barbosa, won the award for best animated short film at Diamond Bell International Film Festival in Chennai (India). What is more, the festival also awarded António Costa Valente best short-film producer. O Antiquário is based on a short story written by Fialho de Almeida, with a soundtrack by Joaquim Pavão and the voice of actor Ruy de Carvalho.
