ANA ISABEL SOARES AND JORGE CARREGA ATTEND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CINEMA AND CONFLICT

On 1 March 2023, CIAC researchers Ana Isabel Soares and Jorge Carrega attend the 1st International Conference on Cinema and Conflict. The event takes place online and in person at Fernando Pessoa University, Porto.

Ana Isabel Soares takes part in the round table (at 11h30), together with Caterina Cucinotta (University Nova of Lisbon) and Nelson Araújo (Escola Superior Artística do Porto), moderated by Eduardo Paz Barroso and Renato Essenfelder (Fernando Pessoa University). Jorge Carrega presents the communication “A ocupação nazi da França no cinema de René Clément” in the first session of presentations (at 16h00).

The conference aims to discuss the various approaches of cinema to the phenomena of war and urban crime and violence. This meeting brings together two approaches in which different areas of knowledge will intersect, intersecting crime, violence, and art and cinema, seeking to bring to debate issues related to violence and war from a current perspective and a multidisciplinary and multifaceted vision.

The joint event (1st International Conference Cinema & Conflict: war and violence and the V OPVC: War & Violence)– will bring together students and researchers with the aim of articulating different research experiences and to contribute to a transdisciplinary discussion.
