INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM
CIAC AND UALG HOST INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM THAT CELEBRATES 400 YEARS OF MOLIÈRE
On 21 and 22 November 2022, CIAC and The University of Algarve (UAlg) Arts and Humanities Department host the international colloquium La fortune de Molière: répertoires, mythes et interprétations. The event takes place in the Amphitheater Teresa Gamito (FCHS).
The colloquium is part of the celebrations of 400 years since the birth of Molière, as a tribute to the playwriter, actor, and poet.
Thinking of the diachronic and historical perspective—important for the understanding of the phenomena of circulation and influence of Molieresque work—the event debates about the fortune and the actuality of Molière. The colloquium features keynote speakers Martial Poirson (Sorbonne Université) and Brigitte Prost (Université de Franche-Comté). On November 22, at 7pm, the closing ceremony is held at Teatro Municipal de Faro, with a Molière Imaginaire performance-reading, by the company Les Comédiens Voyageurs. Full program available here.
La fortune de Molière: répertoires, mythes et interprétations, will have a second session at University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, on 24 November. The event is organized by CIAC (UAlg) and CEL – Center for Studies in Letters (University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro), in collaboration with CET – Center for Studies in Theater (University of Lisbon) and APEF – Portuguese Association for French Studies, under the scope of the French Institute in Portugal and Teatro das Figuras – Faro’s Municipal Theater.
