MANUEL CÉLIO CONCEIÇÃO LEADS PRESIDENCY OF THE INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF LEXIOLOGY, TERMINOLOGY AND TRANSLATION
CIAC researcher Manuel Célio Conceição was elected President of the International Network of Lexicology, Terminology and Translation (LTT). It is a network that brings together researchers and research units (including CIAC), with the aim of supporting and promoting research, publication and training in the areas of Lexicology, Terminology and Translation.
LTT was founded in 1988 as a network of researchers from the University Agency of the Francophonie (AUF) and, in 2013, it became an international non-profit association. The network intends to ensure the production of reference tools in general and specialized language (lexicons, dictionaries, databases, data interpretation tools and translation studies) and to strengthen cooperation between all researchers (from university laboratories and research centers) which use French as a working language, irrespective of their geographical area.
With a PhD in Linguistics and as Associate Professor at the University of Algarve, Manuel Célio Conceição focuses his work on terminology and scientific communication, within the scope of multilingualism and language policies. Among many other positions and functions at the University of Algarve, the positions of Pro-Rector and Director of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FCHS) stand out. In addition, he was President of the European Council of Languages and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Panlatina Terminology Network (REALITER).
