INTERVIEW

DIÁRIO DE NOTÍCIAS INTERVIEWS ANTÓNIO COSTA VALENTE
Diário de Notícias has recently published an interview with CIAC researcher António Costa Valente, who discussed Portuguese national cinema.
Costa Valente defended that, despite recent progress, national cinema still has a long way to go for being widely recognized and valued. He mentions the need for Portuguese films to achieve visibility in traditional circuits, such as distribution in movie theaters and participation in festivals. He concluded that “it is important for Portuguese cinema to escape the more canonical circuits of visibility” and that “the media has yet to be conquered by Portuguese cinema”.
António Costa Valente also spoke about how he manages his multifaceted career as a film producer and director, director of the AVANCA Film Festival, professor, and researcher. For him, “there are no limits” and everything “is part of a process”.
Founded in 1864, Diário de Notícias (DN) is one of the oldest and most influential newspapers in Portugal. It is a daily newspaper with a long history of quality journalism and impartiality, being recognized as a reliable source of information in Portugal.
