NEW ARTICLE BY FILIPE MADEIRA STUDIES THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY TO PREVENT SEDENTARISM  

Mobile and wearable technologies for the analysis of Ten Meter Walk Test: a concise systematic review it is the new article coauthored by CIAC researcher, Filipe Madeira.

The study is primarily interested in physical issues, which started to gather more attention due to the sedentary lifestyle prevailing in modern culture. The ten-meter walk test measures a person’s ability to walk 10m, and with the data provided the research analyzes the progress of conditions of illnesses such as strokes. This study also evaluated the use of mobile devices to measure physical parameters during the administration of the ten-meter walk test for the analysis of test performance.

This research seeks to promote the autonomy of individuals since the monitoring results can be available to caregivers, doctors, or patients themselves, promoting their empowerment and, thus, fostering social inclusion.
