PEDRO ALVES DA VEIGA LECTURES SEMINAR ON COMPUTATIONAL ART
On 26 April 2023, at 19h00, CIAC researcher Pedro Alves da Veiga lectures the seminar Computational Art. Organized by Local Learning Centres from the Open University, the session takes place online (via Zoom) and explores topics such as algorithmic art, Lindenmayer systems and their application in three-dimensional modelling software.
The main objective of the seminar is to show participants the aesthetic, semantic and technological possibilities that the field of computational art allows, which make it an inter and transdisciplinarity field. As a consequence, the seminar also aims to demonstrate the potential of addressing different fields of knowledge, and their impactful communication, through computational art.
In addition, it introduces the concept of digital media art, addressing its relationship with media convergence and new forms of communication and interaction made possible by technological evolution. Audiovisual generative art will be used to illustrate this convergence, and finally, interactive art installations will be approached, based on programmable electronic systems involving sensors, actuators and microcomputers, such as Arduino.
The Local Learning Centres are centers dedicated to the promotion of activities guided by the principles of Lifelong Learning and continue to promote Webinars for their students, with a view to promoting and acquiring skills that allow them to achieve greater academic success.
