VISUAL ARTS CYCLE

MIGUEL CHETA IS THE NEXT GUEST SPEAKER OF THE VISUAL ARTS CYCLE
On 19 April 2023, at 16h00, CIAC and the University of Algarve promote a lecture with visual artist and curator Miguel Cheta. The session is part of the Visual Arts Cycle and takes place at Amphitheater 0.6 of the Pedagogical Complex – Campus Penha. Admission is free of charge.
Miguel Cheta has a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Algarve, and attended MobileHome – Nomadic and Experimental School of Contemporary Art, directed by Nuno Faria in Loulé (2009/2012). He believes that art has a fundamental role in education and social integration. Nuno Faria has participated in educational projects that cross heritage and/or education with the artistic process, such as Magical Places at the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, Gymnasium with Associação Casa Branca, Art Times Education at the Municipality of Loulé and 10X10 the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He has been programming and curating works for the Support Plan for the Arts of the Municipality of Loulé, since 2021, starting from a body of visual artists connected to the Algarve territory. In 2022, he became the director of the Association Alfaia-art and community-based in Loulé. He regularly exhibits his multidisciplinary work, reflecting on it as a social and political being. His close relationship with the territory he loves and lives in – this peripheral, paradigmatic place known as the Algarve.
Promoted by CIAC and FCT, the Cycle of Visual Arts is organized by the Visual Arts degree of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Algarve.
