OPEN STUDIOS FARO

THE OPEN STUDIOS FARO INITIATIVE IS BACK WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF MIRIAN TAVARES
The 3rd edition of the Open Studios Faro initiative returns on the 29th, 30th and 31st of October in a multidisciplinary itinerant circuit that takes art, design and new technologies to emblematic places in the Algarve. Art galleries, historical monuments, artists’ studios and houses, associations and hotels will host painting and photography exhibitions, artistic installations, debates, surprise concerts and workshops for all ages.
On the 30th of October, between 10am and 1pm, CIAC coordinator Mirian Tavares leads a guided visit to the artists’ studios. Participation in the visit is subject to prior reservation through the e-mail openstudiosfaro@gmail.com.
Visits to the studios can take place spontaneously on October 30 and 31, from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm. During these hours, those interested will be able to meet the artists that are part of the itinerary and open the doors of their studios (or their homes); and even participate in the creative practices that take place there.
The initiative also has a parallel program that includes several activities, namely interactive painting experiences for families, by Yucca studio; creation of paper kites, with artist Tó Quintas; portraits à la minuta in painting; live digital illustration; surprise concerts at the Musicians Recreational and Cultural Association and exhibitions at the Conference Room of Hotel 3HB Faro and at Galeria Gama Rama.
Created in 2019 by Daniela Garcia and Toma Svazaite, Open Studios Faro is a platform for visibility, creation and mediation of contemporary art with a particular focus on the visual arts. The main goal is to stimulate creativity, exchange and experimentation in the Algarve contemporary arts and their relationship with the public through innovative cultural and artistic projects in the territory and confrontation with new regional, national and international creative proposals. This work takes place annually, in the form of a roadmap that allows the public to get to know artists and their artistic production, with the opening of their studios to the general public.
With the exception of the workshops and training, all activities are free.
