FREE ONLINE COURSE ‘EXERCÍCIO DA CRÓNICA EM AUTORES PORTUGUESES DO SÉCULO XX’ – APPLICATIONS OPEN FROM 17 APRIL

The Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (FCHS) of the University of Algarve is offering the free course O Exercício da Crónica em Autores Portugueses do Século XX. The course is directed by CIAC researcher Carina Carmo. Applications open from 17 April to 8 May 2023.

O Exercício da Crónica em Autores Portugueses do Século XX approaches the Chronicle as a hybrid genre between literature and journalism. Preceded by the nineteenth-century ‘folhetim,’ the Chronicle has been essential in the experimentation of contemporary Portuguese prose.  This literary genre has produced, in the press, on the radio, and on digital media, the message of everyday and historical times by a subject that composes and inscribes itself in the surrounding human and physical landscape. The course’s study plan comprises big names and works that redraw the genre based on the modernist framework of Irene Lisboa.

The course program sums to 25 hours (divided into 10 sessions) and will take place between 12 June and 17 July 2023, from 17h00 to 19h00, via videoconference. This training is accredited by the Scientific-Pedagogical Committee of Continuous Training, which also works as a training course for Portuguese teachers (important for the career progression of teachers in groups 200, 210, 220, 300).

O Exercício da Crónica em Autores Portugueses do Século XX is part of the “UAlg+Skills4All” project and is carried out within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
