XVII JORNADAS CIAC

XVII JORNADAS CIAC TAKE PLACE ON FEBRUARY 24
On February 24, 2023, CIAC promotes XVII Jornadas CIAC, which focuses on studies about Elvis Presley and twentieth-century popular culture. The event takes place at the University of Algarve (Auditorium 1.4 Complexo Pedagógico, Penha Campus) and will be broadcast through UAlg’s Youtube channel.
The conference’s goal is to gather researchers to share information and discuss projects, publications, methodologies, concepts, and new routes for research on the topic. XVII Jornadas CIAC’s program is now available (here). The main highlight is the panel “Elvis Presley and popular culture of the twentieth century,” with keynote speakers Mathias Haeussler (Regensburg University, Germany) and Mark Duffett (Chester University, United Kingdom); researchers Joana Palminha (CIAC/UAlg), Marta Mendes (CIAC/ESTC-IPL) and Caroline Govari (Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos, Brazil); and author Douglas Brode.
In addition, XVII Jornadas CIAC program also includes the usual panels devoted to research produced and hosted by the Center. This edition has planned interventions on pedagogical and artistic practices of CIAC projects; communications in the area of audiovisual language; as well as presentations about new publications, and an introduction of CIAC’s Research Groups.
The event is free of charge and grants a participation certificate (upon registration here).
